Inspired by early 20th-century British cricket sweaters, this 100% merino wool knit retains the characteristic details of the original sporting garment. Cable knitting, a striped V-neck and contrasting trims give it a distinctly vintage appearance.

Its relaxed, deliberately very short cut follows historical proportions and is designed to sit naturally with high-waisted trousers.

Inspiration

The cricket sweater has its roots in British cricket clubs and schools, where it formed part of the traditional sporting uniform. Its distinctive cable knit, V-neck and club-coloured stripes eventually carried it beyond the cricket field and into the wider menswear wardrobe.

Our version preserves this historical character through its short, generous silhouette, recalling the proportions of British sportswear from the interwar period and the 1940s.

Fit

A relaxed and very short fit, inspired by the proportions of vintage sporting knitwear. The body and sleeves are generous, while the waistband sits high.

The intentionally cropped length is designed to pair particularly well with high-waisted trousers, recreating the balanced proportions associated with 1930s and 1940s menswear.
